Escaping ‘Salem’s Lot’ with Breakout Star Jordan Preston Carter

Just in time for Halloween, Salem’s Lot, the uber creepy adaptation of Stephen King’s classic novel, has just recently hit Max. Director Gary Dauberman has done a solid job making a fun and scary remake, and part of the reason why is the triumphant performances from its ensemble; particularly breakout star Jordan Preston Carter!

We were given the opportunity to sit down with Carter and chat about taking on the role of Mark Petrie in the film.

It’s not easy to take a horror classic with iconic characters from King’s library and remake them with a modern lens. It’s even more challenging when that classic is so deeply beloved by fans everywhere. But Dauberman has succeeded twice with this already, as a writer for IT Chapter 2, and now writing and directing Salem’s Lot. Though by far one of the best decisions he made as director was casting Carter.

As Mark Petrie, Carter demonstrates a tough and likable charisma that enables us, as the audience, to get drawn to him, as the savviest of the vampire hunters in Jerusalem’s Lot. Carter gives a gutsy performance, as his character finds himself in escalating dangers from scene to scene, demanding him as an actor to accept the evolving physical challenges of the role.

To see what he had to say about playing Mark, and participating in an adaptation of a legendary King story, check out our interview with Carter here:
