We speak to the actors Bobby Moynihan, Yonas Kibreab, Haley Tju, and Michael Benyaer about their roles in the new Prime series Bat-Fam.

When Merry Little Batman came out in December 2023, it debuted an exceedingly irreverent version of the Dark Knight and his mythos. Not that irreverent takes hadn’t existed previously of course, but this version of Batman (Luke Wilson) was an extreme example by making him… a nice single dad trying to do well by his son Damian (Yonas Kibreab)? Getting into wacky holiday shenanigans, the father-son duo rode to audience delight Merry Little Batman debuted, resulting in a new series for Prime expanding their adventures, Bat-Fam.

In anticipation of the new series coming out next week, we interview Kibreab, as well as Haley Tju (of Amphibia fame), who plays a re-imagined teenage version of Volcana, and Michael Benyaer who plays the ghost of Damian’s infamous grandfather Ra’s Al Ghul. Delving into what makes each of their characters tick and how they aim to introduce this new version of a “Bat-Fam,” the cast were clearly excited to share with audience their unique take on the Bat-universe.

We also spoke with SNL alum Bobby Moynihan about his love of the DC Universe and his different take on Man-Bat in the series. You can check out that conversation on YouTube below.

Bat-Fam will be streaming on Amazon Prime November 10.

  1. I will look for this.
My favorite irreverent Batman is the Lego version for mocking the Very Very Grim Caped Crusader that’s become so popular.
