Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista are currently crushing the charts on Prime Video right now, with their new-API centric action film, The Wrecking Crew. We recently had a chance to sit down with Director, Ángel Manuel Soto (Blue Beetle), as well as stars Morena Baccarin, Jacob Batalon, Temuera Morrison, Frankie Adams, and Roimata Fox. Now it’s time to get a bit darker as we chat with the actor behind one of the film’s most memorable villains – global music and film sensation, Miyavi!
Miyavi has been a legend in the Japanese music scene since 1999. He started as the guitarist for the rock band, Dué le Quartz, before becoming a huge solo-superstar in 2002, and a member of the groups S.K.I.N. and The Last Rockstars. After achieving so much success in music, it was only natural for the rockstar to make the transition to film, which he did in 2014 with the Angelina Jolie directed film, Unbroken, in 2014. Since then, he’s made memorable appearances in Kong: Skull Island, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, and now, as a crazy and formidable Yakuza badass, Nakamura, giving Momoa and Bautista trouble in The Wrecking Crew.
Getting to speak with someone as accomplished as Miyavi would be intimidating enough. Add to that, however, the fact that he gave a man as big as Bautista a run for his money in the action department in one of the film’s most memorable fight scenes, and you reach a level of intimidation absolutely unheard of. Thankfully, all of that was broken when, to my grand surprise, the rock icon turned out to be incredibly smart, soft-spoken, and humble.
Take a look at what he had to say about going toe-to-to with Bautista in The Wrecking Crew right here:
