NOC Review: ‘Quantumania’ is a Solid Start to The Kang Dynasty

Phase 5 is finally here and so is Kang! ‘Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania’ Cast and Crew on Exploring the Quantum Realm

The Quantum Realm has been a part of the MCU mythology since it was introduced in the first Ant-Man film. Since then, we’ve only seen glimpses of the unexplored world. But in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, we will finally see it in all its bizarre and indescribably wacky glory. And it took an entire team, plus some input from Ant-Man star Paul Rudd to figure out how it would look and the quantum mechanics of it all.

‘Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania’ Director Peyton Reed Talks Finding Family

Family has always been a recurring theme in the Ant-Man film franchise. Everything Scott has done was done for his daughter. And we see how the Pym family relationship is repaired after years of keeping secrets from each other. By exploring the layers of this theme through the superhero lens, we see how committed Marvel is to tell the story of a simple everyday man and devoted father who happens to be an Avenger.

‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ Trailer Goes Deeper into the Quantum Realm

For a Marvel Comics superhero who had a small start in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he’s had some pretty big adventures, some of which had an impact on the larger MCU. No longer the epilogue to the Avengers epics, Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) aka Ant-Man and Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) aka The Wasp are the opening act to Phase 5, where they will take fans into the mysterious Quantum Realm in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.

‘Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania’ Trailer Teases First Look at Quantum Realm

Seeing the vast wonders of the Quantum Realm in the Ant-Man film franchise was inevitable. We first heard of it in the titlular film, and then Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) spent some time trapped inside of it for five years — or was it five hours — after Thanos snapped half of life away. Now the new trailer for Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania gives us a look at how unusual this realm is and how dangerous it can be when a villain like Kang the Conquerer (Jonathan Majors) intends to extend his mighty hand beyond the very tiny world.

‘Maleficent: Mistress of Evil’ Review

By Russell Fung

Did anyone ask for a sequel to Sleeping Beauty?

I used to write English-language screenplays for a feature animation studio in China. They hired me to write sequels to Snow White and Cinderella, asking me to infuse Western humor so that it would appeal to an international audience. The experience was difficult because nobody could agree on what the story and message had to be. I was told, “It’s a movie for children, so don’t take the themes too far or too serious. It doesn’t have to be logical or make sense. It just has to be fun and pretty.” I left the projects amicably, because I didn’t want to write a generic story that didn’t resonate with the current human condition.

‘Maleficent: Mistress of Evil’ is All About Family and Growing Up

By Esther Kim

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil reunites Maleficent (Angelina Jolie) and Aurora (Elle Fanning) as they face their biggest challenge: growing up.

Sure, there are the fey people wanting to come from behind the shadows and a potential battle between them and humans, especially with an evil queen Ingrith (Michelle Pfeiffer) pulling the strings from behind the throne. But the main story is really the relationship between Maleficent and Aurora.

“I feel the huge part of the success from the first film is that it had a strong emotional core,” said director Joachim Rønning during the global press conference in Beverly Hills. “I think that was the most important to me to continue telling that story. The story about Maleficent and Aurora. That’s what I can relate with as a parent, myself.”

Ira Madison III Talks Catwoman and the 25th Anniversary of ‘Batman Returns’

On June 19, 1992, Batman Returns premiered and was unlike any comic book superhero movie that came before — or after. Starring Michael Keaton as Batman, Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman, and Danny DeVito as Penguin, Batman Returns was a beautiful dark twisted fantasy that doubled down on Tim Burton’s gothic tendencies and created one of the most enduring female characters in superhero cinema.
