Last year, Disneyland Resort’s Paradise Pier underwent renovations to transform from its original beach and nautical-themed hotel into a full-fledged Pixar-themed hotel. The hotel itself didn’t close as Imagineers and construction crews added and remodeled around the structure, while still being able to provide guests the same service and amenities. Now Disneyland Resort announced that Pixar Place Hotel will open January 30, 2024.
The new Pixar Place Hotel will evoke the inspiration and humor that goes into every Pixar film, while celebrating the artistic process. Think of it as a hotel version of the Pixar Studios in Emeryville, CA, with the addition of concept art pieces decorating the walls. And it wouldn’t be much of a Pixar-themed hotel without the studio’s signature lamp sitting on top of the Luxo ball. There will also be an “imaginative mobile of beloved Pixar characters floating from the bright skylight above. ” The mobile is meant to depict the stages of animation starting from its most simplistic form of just shapes and sketches all the way to its fully rendered animated form. And if you have some of those “The Art of Books,” then you might recognize a few or more pieces in the lobby, hallways, and even your hotel room.

Near the lobby will be STOR-E — a playful take on the Pixar film name WALL-E — featuring Pixar-themed apparel and toys, plus more Disneyland Resort souvenirs and sundries.

Yes, the hotel rooms will have the spirit of Pixar on every square inch. You’ll find a pillow decorated to the likeness of Luxo, and use the same Pixar lamp to illuminate the desk just in case you want to write down an itinerary or jot down your favorite memories. Not only that, headboards “will consist of concept art from a variety of Pixar features, including The Incredibles, Toy Story 3 and more that are arranged in order from warm to cool colors, sharing the importance of color to the tone of a scene.”

Other Pixar offerings include a Finding Nemo-themed splash pad and pool area! Recently opened for guests of Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel, this rooftop oasis features Pixel Pool, which is lined with relaxing loungers, along with Nemo’s Cove pop-jet splash pad, and the not-to-miss Crush’s Surfin’ Slide, a 186-foot-long water slide inspired by the coolest sea turtle in the ocean. The adjacent play court and pool bar will open later this fall.

And the pools will have two firepits featuring Pixar’s favorite hotheads like Jack-Jack from Pixar’s The Incredibles and Anger from Pixar’s Inside Out. Additionally, the Small Bytes rooftop bar serves up salads, wraps, assorted cheese plates and more which you can enjoy with signature beverages.

The fitness center is also refurbished. Offerings include treadmills, free weights and more complimentary for hotel guests. And just to keep those fitness buffs extra motivated, there will be a large art piece on the wall of Mike and Sulley running on a treadmill, inspired by Pixar’s Monsters University.

Lastly, the Great Maple opens in November. This modern American eatery will serve a robust selection of dishes made from scratch daily including the Cajun Shrimp & Cheddar Biscuit Benedict, Soda Pop-Braised Baby Back Ribs, Charred Cauliflower Hummus, Maple Pecan-Crusted Salmon, Market Fish, a variety of inspired salads, and my favorite, the Buttermilk Fried Chicken & Maple Bacon Doughnuts! A few weeks later, a new grab-and-go coffee shop in the lobby called Sketch Pad Café shop opens to serve guests assorted pastries accompanied by a selection of coffee and tea.
As the renovations continue, Paradise Pier will continue to have added benefits of staying on property at the Disneyland Resort, including a dedicated entrance across the street with direct access to Disney California Adventure park. And like all hotels and park expansions, there will be many more additions to come.
Pixar Place Hotel will open January 30, 2024.
