‘LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy’ Cast and Writers on Favorite ‘Star Wars’ Memories

With the number of films, TV series, and original LEGO sets that bare the Star Wars name, characters from different timelines can now interact with each other in ways that they could never have before. As such, LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild The Galaxy writers and executive producers Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit have created a four-part special that taps into that and reimagines the galaxy far, far away in ways that pays homage to the lore but still can stand on its own.

After finding an ancient relic that can rewrite reality at will, a young boy named Sig Greebling (Gaten Matarazzo) seeks out the solution to the changes with the help of an elusive Jedi Bob (Bobby Moynihan) long forgotten.

The Nerds of Color had a chance to sit down for a video interview with Hernandez and Samit, along with Matarazzo, Tony Revolori, and Marsai Martin — who voice Sig Greebling, Dev Greebling, and Yesi Scala, respectively. We also spent some time talking to Moynihan who was more than happy to share why he is a fan, what Star Wars jokes and skits were rejected, how his LEGO collection compares to his Kenner collection, and more.

All four episodes of the LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy “Four-Piece” Animated Special debuts September 13 on Disney+.
