Director Zach Cregger and Star Alden Ehrenreich Sharpen Their ‘Weapons’

When it comes to original horror, we expect low-to-mid budget horror to explode more through smaller independent studios and less from the major ones. Bigger studios tend to see these sorts of films as gambles, sometimes paying off in the form of hits like Ready or Not or even Sinners, and other times having to settle for cult classic status like with Abigail or Companion. However, when you have a talented, well-regarded horror filmmaker like Zach Cregger ready with a script like Weapons, for a studio like Warner Bros., it’s no longer a gamble. Success becomes almost inevitable.

NOC Review: ‘Freakier Friday’ is a Fun, Chaotic Nostalgic Charmer

From The Parent Trap to Mean Girls, Lindsay Lohan’s dominance in pop culture through the late ‘90s/early ‘00s was inescapable. And with good cause, because some of those films went on to become true classics, with many getting a second life with either musical remakes (Mean Girls) or in the case of Freaky Friday, legacy sequels. Surprisingly, that’s actually a great thing, because with Freakier Friday, the movies aren’t the only things getting a second life. Welcome back, Lohan!

SDCC 2025: ‘Peacemaker’ Takes Over San Diego Comic Con

Superman flew into theaters this summer, officially kicking off the new DC Universe under James Gunn and Peter Safran. It garnered much acclaim, and is still soaring high at the box office, becoming the highest grossing solo Superman film of all time domestically, and the most successful superhero film of the year. So the question for DC Studios is, of course, what’s next? Why the return of John Cena’s outlandish Peacemaker of course!

‘Eyes of Wakanda’ Director Todd Harris on Contributing to the MCU Legacy of ‘Black Panther’

Throughout history, portions of Black history have been erased. We’re seeing that today with censorship in schools, the banning of books, a general trend toward erasure of American slavery’s historical legacy (e.g, Florida’s “Stop Woke Act”). Marvel’s new animated series Eyes of Wakanda refuses to shy away from these truths.

SDCC 2025: The ‘Predator’ Blasts Hall H into the ‘Badlands’

There are very few staples in the world of pop sci-fi that have had the lasting impact of the Predator franchise. While the series has seen its shares of ups and downs since 1987, in recent years, it’s seen a considerable upswing thanks to the terrific efforts of filmmaker Dan Trachtenberg. Starting with Prey, continuing with Predator: Killer of Killers, and now coming up on Predator: Badlands.

NOC Review: ‘The Fantastic Four’ is a Loving Tribute to the Marvel Age of Comics

There was a time, shortly after the Comics Code Authority was established, when DC Comics, after being attacked by psychiatrist Fredric Wertham and the Senate, was forced to make more campy, child-friendly stories for their most iconic heroes: Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman. As a result, sales plummeted, and fans of comics were looking for something more meaningful and relatable. Enter Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s The Fantastic Four!
