Do you hear that sound? The sound of Mariah Carey’s “Fantasy” getting louder and louder? Do you know what that sound means? It means we’re getting closer to the release of, honestly, one of my favorite movies of the year so far, Free Guy.Continue reading “Having a Great Day at the ‘Free Guy’ Press Conference”
There was a little bit of buzz surrounding the original Ryan Reynolds vehicle, Free Guy ever since it was supposed to debut back in July of 2020. It was, of course, sadly delayed two more times due to the pandemic, as all movies we’ve seen this year were. And in that timeframe, as anticipated, big blockbuster franchises from F9 to Black Widow, and A Quiet Place to The Suicide Squad, seemingly overshadowed the buzz for this one with star power and dedicated fanbases, hungry for explosive action. But after seeing it for myself, all I can say is we should have never let this one fall off our radars.Continue reading “NOC Review: ‘Free Guy’ is The Biggest Surprise of the Summer”

Did I like Pokémon: Detective Pikachu? For the most part, yes. Would I recommend this movie to everyone? I don’t know if I can.
To elaborate, growing up, I played Pokémon Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, and Silver. Then my mom wouldn’t buy me a Game Boy Advance, so I stopped counting after 251, and never played another console Pokémon game thereafter (at least until I became a grown-ass man, got a job, bought a Switch, and started playing Let’s Go Pikachu!). Then naturally the Pokémon Go phase happened, and I got obsessed again. However, as they began expanding the roster of Pokémon beyond the 251 I knew, I was completely lost about what any of the Pokémon that appeared from the Advance generation and up were, and ultimately stopped playing.
The world premiere of Detective Pikachu in New York City is just around the corner. Though the film doesn’t come out until May 10, here are our first impressions:
Charizards! Flareons! MEWTWO! Oh my!
A new trailer and poster for Pokémon: Detective Pikachu just hit this morning!
I think I’m officially devoid of any other words for this one folks. Just know I’m all in 1000% for this movie based on what we’ve seen so far!
When it was first announced that the world of Pokémon was finally getting a live-action film, fans all over the world of the video game, card game, and animated series were excited at the prospect of seeing their favorites come to life. Pikachu was finally becoming a live action creature, but many wondered… how?
Whoever had to create this live-action world for all of the Pokémon would have to really work closely with Japan’s The Pokémon Company to ensure these iconic characters are detailed for the hardcore fans. Fortunately, Pokémon: Detective Pikachu looks like it just did that.
The much-anticipated Deadpool sequel is sure to be full of what fans love: more action, more mutants, more pop culture references. And most importantly, more Dopinder, Deadpool’s taxi driving sidekick. Watch the opening of this trailer. It starts with Dopinder listening to his radio while Deadpool does his superhero duties. The cabby audiences saw for all of five minutes in the first Deadpool movie, who got crisp high fives instead of cold hard cash, is back. The man scorned by his lover who got his revenge, Deadpool-style, returns for a second chance to be a hero. We got a chance to talk to the actor who plays Dopinder — Karan Soni — and he gave us the inside scoop into playing Deadpool’s number one driver.
Sequels are extremely hard, especially when you have a completely different person in the director’s chair and the first film was a massive hit. The first Deadpool relied on Ryan Reynold’s charm, crude jokes, and kickass major fight-to-the-death scenes that earned the film’s R-rating. All of that paid off. Deadpool became the second highest grossing R-rated movie in U.S. history after Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ. And, if you’re wondering, yes, the sequel does mention this achievement.Continue reading “‘Deadpool 2’ Review: Sequel is More of the Same”
A new trailer for Deadpool 2 just dropped and it’s action-packed, fast-paced, and of course… funny (because Deadpool).
This morning, Fox released a new red-band trailer for this summer’s Deadpool 2. Check it out below!

One-Shot: Green Lantern Ruined the DC Cinematic Universe
If you haven’t seen Guardians of the Galaxy yet, you will. Director James Gunn and his cast — starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, and Bradley Cooper — have found that cross section of great action and effects, genuine mirth, and likability, that makes for a movie that kids will fondly remember into adulthood. What was once widely thought of as a long shot in Phase Two of Marvel Studios’ cinematic universe, Guardians could very well be the new Star Wars to this generation’s adolescent filmgoers. Halloween is going to see a lot of trees and raccoons running through the front yard for years to come. Toys will be flying off the shelves. And Marvel has $94 million reasons to celebrate its box office dominance.
Which is not to say that Guardians is the new sci-fi G.O.A.T., but rarely does a film so effectively appeal to both youth and adults. And, unlike Marvel’s previous films, young fans of Guardians get an all-new set of characters to love that don’t belong to their parents. Like Harry Potter before it, Guardians will belong uniquely to this generation of toy-buying, cosplaying kids.
