Superhero team-ups don’t get any bigger than this. Well, unless you have whisky dick of the claws, which is quite common in Wolverines over 40, according to Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds). That’s right, Marvel has released the newest trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine, and judging by the look of it, the highly anticipated sequel will make us all smile.
This teamup was a going to happen, whether Wolverine liked it or not. And ever since that first trailer dropped, fans have been itching to see what Huge Jackman would look like in a Deadpool movie after Logan met his fateful end in his self-titled film. While some may have considered the man a hero, it appears that the Merc with the Mouth knows the truth about how Wolverine’s world “went to s***.”
Trailer footage reveals Paradox (Matthew Macfadyen) warning Wade that “This Wolverine let down his entire world.” Considering that Deadpool & Wolverine is a sequel that uses the multiverse, it shouldn’t be all that surprising to hear that kind of language. Later scenes show us that Wolverine isn’t too happy to see Deadpool as the merc with the mouth receives a fistful of claws to the crotch, while Wade pumps bullets into Logan’s sides.
A therapy session between the two is full of meta-jokes, but Wolverine clearly isn’t interested in participating. But Deadpool clearly needs him if he is going to save his world. There slow-motion shot of the two walking from behind a hot dog cart stand in a city that looks wasted while Madonna’s “Like a Prayer” appropriately plays in the background. In another scene, we see Deadpool make his case for bringing Wolverine to his world because he has no clue how to save worlds. Deadpool then points to a picture of his family to the man, who then tells Deadpool that he is no hero.
“This is what I am talking about. Big slow-motion action sequence. Who knows if you live or die,”
The trailer closes the usual epic action sequences, which for a Deadpool movie means it is filled with explosions, blood, and a lot of vulgarity. Of course, it is topped off with a few drug references, which contains an fan-favorite question that doubles as a drug reference.
Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Brianna Hildebrand, Shioli Kutsuna, and Lewis Tan reprise their respective roles. They’ll all be joined by Emma Corrin, who is rumored to play Cassandra Nova.
Directed by Shawn Levy, who uses a screenplay he co-wrote with Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells, Deadpool & Wolverine opens in theaters on July 26, 2024.
