Disney has released the fifth and final song of their Wish Wednesday campaign ahead of the full soundtrack release on Friday. Fans anticipating the film and soundtracks release can now listen to “Knowing What I Know Now” on on SiriusXM’s Disney Hits Channel 133, on SiriusXM’s Disney Hits Channel 133, YouTube, Amazon Music, Spotify, Apple Music, and all digital service providers.

Penned by Grammy®-nominated singer/songwriter Julia Michaels and Grammy®-winning producer/songwriter/musician Benjamin Rice, “Knowing What I Know Now” has hints of a rally cry woven beautifully into its lyrics and as has echoes of Mulan’s “Make a Man Out of You.”

According to director Chris Buck, “Knowing What I Know Now” showcases the moment when the people around Asha (Ariana DeBose) realize that she is on the right path as she takes on the formidable king and his intentions for most of the wishes. “It’s a bit of a rally cry that shows the depth of her support system,” said Buck. “Asha is leading the charge all alone at first, but when her friends and an important figure in the community see that change is in order, Asha’s journey is validated and fueled.”

“Everyone finally starts opening their eyes to what Magnifico really is,” said Michaels. “Asha is trying to get her friends to join her in the fight to get everyone their wishes back. By the end of the song, everyone’s in it together. It’s drum-heavy and emotional.” 

Rice says he loves the song because of the raw energy and truth to power that the song speaks. “It is a powerful moment that gives me goosebumps every time,” he said. “The bridge of this song is one of my favorite musical moments of the film and it encapsulates the journey that the teens have been on in their own struggle to stand up to Magnifico.” 

And the behind-the-scenes look offers a sneak peek at Asha and her friends sing in unison about what they are going to do now that they know the truth about their exalted King Magnifico (Chris Pine). It’s a cool video that shows us the co-stars energy and committment they are all putting into their roles as they belt out this powerful number. And watching Jennifer Kumiyama and Harvey Guillén, both of whom play essential roles in the film, sing is truly inspiring. And having seen the film already, I can only imagine what it was like to see them during the recording sessions.

Wish is scheduled to open in theaters on November 22, 2023.
