‘The Tiger’s Apprentice’ Trailer Sees Animals of the Chinese Zodiac Face a Great Evil

Paramount+ has unleashed a brand-new trailer for The Tiger’s Apprentice, a new animated film based on the popular children’s book series of the same name by Laurence Yep which inserts the mythology of the Chinese Zodiac into a modern-day story about a teenager who discovers that he comes from a long-linage of mystical protectors known as the guardians.

The trailer opens with our hero, Chinese American high schooler Tom Lee (Brandon Soo Hoo), who is being tormented by a bully. In an effort to defend himself, Tom unknowingly unleashes an energy and is able to fend him off. That is when a mysterious man named Hu (Henry Golding) tells Tom about his grandmother, who was a guardian sworn to protect humanity. Tom finds everything Hu is saying hard to believe but is soon convinced after he sees him transform into a tiger. Soon Tom realizes what is at stake, and starts to train with Hu and the other animals of the Chinese Zodiac to fight Loo (Michelle Yeoh), an evil force that has been threatening to destroy humanity for thousands of years.

The Tiger’s Apprentice also features the voice talents of Lucy Liu (Shazam: Fury of the Gods) with Golden Globe winner Sandra Oh (Quiz Lady), Bowen Yang (Saturday Night Live), Leah Lewis (Elemental), Kheng Hua Tan (Crazy Rich Asians), Sherry Cola (Joy Ride), Deborah S. Craig (Meet Cute), Jo Koy (The Monkey King), Greta Lee (Past Lives), Diana Lee Inosanto (The Mandalorian), Patrick Gallagher (Night at the Museum), and Poppy Liu (The Afterparty).
