It’s safe to say the Alien franchise has been hit and miss over the past few years. However, as a fan of this franchise, I’m going to go out and say I still look forward to each new project announced! After seeing Ridley Scott coming back for Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, he’s handing off the director’s seat to some new blood in the form of Don’t Breathe and Evil Dead (2013) director Fede Alvarez!

Alvarez’s work has mostly hit for me. Evil Dead (2013) is one of the few horror remakes that is worthy to be part of its franchise. And Don’t Breathe was a surprising and suspenseful little romp. He’s incredibly good at slowly building tension, and at bringing out the terrifying in his imagery. So I remain pretty positive that he’ll make a heck of an entertaining movie! And the insane trailer he’s cut for the movie makes me feel optimistic!

Maybe this will be very similar to Prey and be a worthy new installment to its franchise? I guess we’ll see!

The film stars Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla), David Jonsson (Agatha Christie’s Murder is Easy), Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone), Isabela Merced (The Last of Us), Spike Fearn (Aftersun), and newcomer Aileen Wu.

Alien: Romulus stalks its way into theaters August 16!
