Oh, Josh Hartnett. It’s so good to have you back. After wowing us with a terrific comeback in Oppenheimer last year, the ‘90s heartthrob turned seasoned actor is back, as you’ve never seen him before: a bloodthirsty murderer and Lady Raven stan in the latest from M. Night Shyamalan, entitled Trap.
Shyamalan has been incredibly 50/50 over the course of his career, but I’m glad folks are past the days of hating on him after some of his more notorious outings hit theaters. If there’s anyone out there who knows what it’s like to have a comeback, it’s the divisive director of The Sixth Sense.
Trap centers on a father and a daughter who attend a concert for her favorite pop star, Lady Raven. However, what they don’t realize is the whole show is actually a secret set up for an operation to trap a notorious serial killer known as The Butcher. Unbeknownst to his daughter or the attendees of the concert, however, the killer might just be under their noses.

What I love about this trailer is that Shyamalan is finally just putting his twists in the trailer rather than having us wait a full two hours for their reveals. And that will help the film prioritize the thrills, and minimize the groans. It’s a good premise, and Hartnett is a terrific and underrated actor. Looking forward to seeing this one!
Prepare for the ultimate trap, when Trap hits theaters August 9!
