The Gunn era has begun! What will officially be the first project in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Universe will be the highly anticipated animated series, Creature Commandos. This week at Comic Con, the trailer officially dropped for the prologue to the new era of DC!
One of the coolest things about Gunn’s plans for the DC Universe will be the connective tissue that binds the animated projects with the live action ones. As such, the actors in Creature Commandos will be reprising their roles in live action and crossing over from one medium to the next while keeping the narrative cohesive. And that’s such an exciting prospect when you think about it, because even Marvel and Star Wars tend to struggle with that ambitious game plan.
Here’s the trailer for the show in all its chaotic glory!
Every episode of the series was written by James Gunn, and the show features the voice talents of some of the best character actors any project could have, including Steve Agee, Maria Bakalova, Anya Chalotra, Zoe Chao, Frank Grillo, Sean Gunn, David Harbour, Alan Tudyk, Indira Varma, and Viola Davis reprising her role as Amanda Waller.
The animation looks amazing so far. And the premise alone, for anyone who is a fan of these underrated monsters, is enough to get us all excited! Let’s hope we see much more of “Task Force M” in the future!
Creature Commandos kicks off the new DCU only on Max in December!
