‘Agatha All Along’ Producers Preview Marvel’s ‘Heated’ Witch Series

We got to interview two of the producers for Marvel Studios’ Agatha All Along, Brad Winderbaum and Mary Livanos. The first two episodes of the witch-centered series premiere on September 18 at 6 PM PT/9 PM ET on Disney+, starring Kathryn Hahn as the titular supernatural maven.

Brad talks about Hahn’s fan-favorite performance, Jac Shaeffer’s inspirational take on the character of Agatha Harkness, and Aubrey Plaza’s “challenge to Agatha’s agenda.”

Although Agatha Harkness is not the most well-known of Marvel characters, in the classic comics she has some association with the Fantastic Four and Galactus, so it is especially noteworthy that the Agatha producers were on-hand for Marvel Studios’ recent slate of feature film announcements at D23.

Mary talks about Kathryn Hahn’s “heated” character interaction with Aubrey Plaza as Rio Vidal, and the prominence of practical in-camera special effects in the series, “harkening” to classic television sitcom and fantasy series, much in the vein of WandaVision.

Knowing that Mary worked as a producer on both the Captain Marvel films, we felt compelled to ask for her opinion on a hypothetical Agatha vs. Carol Danvers confrontation. We have little information on what established MCU characters may cameo in Agatha All Along, but one can always hope!
