Charlie Cox and Krysten Ritter Talk ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2 at NYCC

While covering the Marvel press line for The Nerds of Color at NYCC 2025, I was lucky enough to speak with fan favorites Charlie Cox and Krysten Ritter about Daredevil: Born Again season 2, coming to Disney+ in March 2026.

Naturally, New York Comic Con’s Up Next From Marvel Television and Marvel Animation panel had to include two of New York City’s most iconic heroes. Cox and Ritter, who will be making her return as Jessica Jones, took the Empire Stage to give fans a first look at the show’s highly anticipated second season.

“That is what we look forward to the most,” Cox told me. “I mean, that is our only [way to experience it with an audience], because you think the way content is shared now, you watch it at home by yourself or with a couple of friends, so you have no idea. When season one came out, we had a premiere, and what Disney did, what Marvel did, which is so cool, is the first ten rows were fans. The rest of it was the cast, the crew, the family, and all that kind of stuff, but we got to watch it with fans. So we got to hear the excitement for certain moments, and when someone shows up, and the cheering, the shock, and the laughter. It’s a bit like the first night of a play. You get to see what people are responding to, so that’s the same as showing a trailer at Comic Con. You get to experience the things that you, when you’re filming them, you’re excited about for the fans. It’s really cool.”

He wasn’t even aware that they would be showing a trailer until the presentation. “I don’t like watching myself very much, so I get a bit nervous to see what it is we’re gonna see, what they’re gonna show. I loved the reaction to Krysten,” the actor commented. “That was really, really cool. And also, there was a really nice reaction to the romance between Matt and Karen. So that’s an element to this story that I always want to nurture because it’s so important, I think, to the Daredevil comics. We get to do some Matt and Karen stuff in this season that’s coming up, that is a long time coming. I love that stuff, I love working with Deborah. I love their relationship. She is the love of his life, and so getting to really kind of delve deep into that romance is great fun. Also, in this season, Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page gets to kick ass as well. So that’s really cool, and she’s a badass. She deserves that.”

“I mean, the reaction to Jessica coming on screen was massive and major,” Ritter added. “It was like the biggest moment of the trailer, and I don’t think I expected that, but it just goes to show the enthusiasm, and it was really infectious. As soon as people saw her boots come on, the room went fucking wild, and that was really, really, really fun.”

“Most jobs you do, you do them and then they’re done. And so, you get a script or you get ten scripts if it’s TV, you work on the character, you work on the story, you build who you think this person is. Then, you commit it to film, and then that’s it. It’s done. It’s over. I’ve had this extraordinary experience of having this character that I built ten years ago, obviously with the scripts, with the comics, the history, and everything, but now, my character, this character, this Matt Murdock has evolved and changed from the stuff we’ve shot over ten years,” Cox said of growing with Daredevil. “So, that’s really fun and a challenge, and every time we start shooting a new season, I have to kind of go through, like, right, what has happened to him? How has he changed irrevocably? How is he different to how he’s ever been? What is his attitude towards the world, to God, to himself now? And how is that different? So it’s a fun new challenge.”

Marvel’s Jessica Jones started back in 2015 and ran for a total of three seasons. When the MCU first started, there weren’t many strong female characters, and the majority of the fans were male. This has changed significantly since the franchise has continued to expand, so it’s only fitting that we finally get Ritter back.

“The fans have been everything,” she shared. “When I got the part, there weren’t other characters like this. Casting me as a superhero wasn’t exactly the norm at the time; it was a big departure from the trend, and it’s exciting. Then, to have a character who was so tough and wasn’t like super sexy and beautiful, and just like raw vulnerability, power, strength, and overcoming all of her traumas. This is a girl who’s had trauma on top of trauma on top of trauma, and people really relate to her. I think it’s really special, and it’s thrilling to be back. The fans asked for it, and I’m so proud that we get to do it.”

The actress continued to express, “I had characters growing up that I would connect with, and it was always the offbeat, the dark, the weirdos, the quirky people, and seeing that helps define your identity. It helps you define your personal style, so it’s so important to have those touchstones and those characters that everyone can relate to, and I think there was clearly a void and an appetite for a character like Jessica Jones, and that’s why people love her so much, and I love her so much.”

There’s more: the third season of Daredevil: Born Again is already in the works.
