Ready or Not came out almost 7 years ago. And while the film, of course, made star Samara Weaving a household name, it also skyrocketed directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (aka “Radio Silence”) into the stratosphere. In the aftermath of the surprise hit, Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett successfully relaunched the then-dormant Scream franchise with two of its best installments, and brought us an amazing little surprise in Abigail. Now, they’re bringing back Weaving’s Grace for another killer game of hide and seek with Ready or Not 2: Here I Come!
As someone who loved the first movie, my love for the work of Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett only grew stronger with every movie they’ve done since then. Their ability to blend blood, comedy, and thrills without ever losing confidence or conviction in their choices has yielded some of the most enjoyable horror films in recent years. So as skeptical as I was at the idea of a sequel to Ready or Not being greenlit, with them behind it, I quickly realized I had nothing to worry about. The movie is such a good time, and a strong sequel that lives up to the original. Which only made me all the more thrilled to speak with the geniuses that started it all.
In a conversation with Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett, we were able to geek out about David Cronenberg body horror, the power of final girls in horror, and much more! Check out what they had to say right here:
Don’t forget to check out Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, hitting theaters on March 20th!
