Artificial Intelligence, or “AI,” is an intentionally misrepresented term. A vast collection of machine learning algorithms using vast quantities of human-made data for predictive analytics, it is ultimately more simple than we’re led to believe. Mainly this is the design of the capitalist tech CEOs who insist that towering and complicated AI simply must be part of our daily lives when in most ways we have no practical use for it and we can get by.

The trailer features snippets of SHINee’s Jonghyun’s funeral as the discussion of “the Dark Side of K-pop” plays over it. The negative impact of K-pop culture has been discussed from the lens of the West, as if K-pop is the only problematic industry.

One of the most heartfelt pieces of cinema I’ve seen this year was the wonderful documentary Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story. Directed by Peter Ettedgui and Ian Bonhôte, the film takes a look at the amazing Christopher and Dana Reeve, and their story overcoming the adversities that came following the tragedy of Christopher’s 1995 accident.

My hope is that the title for this review won’t get me sued by the makers of Ted Lasso. But in my defense, I’m mostly just playing off the tagline of one of the greatest superhero movies ever made. And in that grand tradition, we now have a stellar documentary telling the inspirational story of one of the most iconic superheroes ever! No, not Superman.
