Discussing ‘Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story’ with the Reeve Family and Filmmakers

One of the most heartfelt pieces of cinema I’ve seen this year was the wonderful documentary Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story. Directed by Peter Ettedgui and Ian Bonhôte, the film takes a look at the amazing Christopher and Dana Reeve, and their story overcoming the adversities that came following the tragedy of Christopher’s 1995 accident.

Recently, we were so overwhelmingly lucky to get to speak to not only Ettedgui and Bonhôte, but the children of Christopher and Dana, Alexandra Reeve Givens, Matthew Reeve, and Will Reeve!

Super/Man goes into the touching years following the hardships that befell the Reeve family. But how their hope and persistence led to the finding of The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, and Christopher’s fight to keep going against all odds thanks to the love and support of all around him. When we think about the character of Superman, and the hope and optimism the character represents, no other actor truly embodied the same spirit than Reeve himself. So we were so incredibly grateful to get time with Alexandra, Matthew, and Will, as well as Ettedgui and Bonhôte, who put together this inspiring documentary.

Make sure you catch Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story in its limited engagement on September 25, only in theaters.
