Season 18 of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Has an Official Premiere Date

ABC has just announced its Fall premiere dates for the 2021–22 season for both new and returning shows. TV’s longest-running prime time medical drama Grey’s Anatomy is officially set to return on Thursday, September 30. Episodes will air 9:00PM EDT. Before Grey’s Anatomy, new episodes of Station 19 will air as usual. However, Big Sky is now joining the Thursday night lineup with new episodes after Grey’s Anatomy.

ABC’s ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ is Coming Back for Season 18

Television’s longest-running medical drama will continue for another season! Grey’s Anatomy has been renewed for season 18. According to Deadline, original cast members Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson, and James Pickens Jr., whose current contracts are up at the end of this season, will all be returning for the new season. Pompeo (who also is a producer on Grey’s Anatomy) closed a new one-year deal while Wilson and Pickens Jr. both signed new contracts to continue their roles on the hit series.

The Double Standard of Diversity

A satirist by the name of Jon Stewart once said, “If you don’t stick to your values when they’re being tested, they’re not values, they’re hobbies.” I love the work I do. However, in the last year or two I’ve experienced pangs of resentment at the burden of being a gay author of color. I knew what I was signing up for when I entered the industry. Penning stories that features a diverse cast (being a minority writer myself), I was all but committing career Seppuku. No this resentment was something else. Something I couldn’t quite shake.
