NOC Review: It’s Easy to ‘Speak No Evil’ With a Movie So Forgettable

This is not Blumhouse’s year. They’re 0 for 4 so far, with Night Swim, Imaginary, AfrAId, and now Speak No Evil. While the latest film from Blumhouse is easily the most watchable of their 2024 offerings, is “bland and forgettable” really the bar they want to set here? Maybe next year will be better.

NOC Interview: James McAvoy on Audible’s ‘The Sandman: Act II’

James McAvoy voices the title role of Dream in the Audible Original, The Sandman: Act II. The new installment of the audio drama series was released on Wednesday, September 22 and is a total of 21 episodes. The first installment is currently available for free on Audible, Amazon Music, and through Alexa enabled devices until October 22.

NOC Review: Dull ‘Phoenix’ Barely Rises Above Subpar

Sometimes when the public gets hold of bad buzz regarding a studio tentpole, they end up pleasantly surprised by the result of the film. Wonder Woman was at one point considered to be “a mess” thereby worrying audiences before release. Aladdin was getting blasted online, and Disney was getting ready to take another Solo-sized bath.  However,  Wonder Woman went on to become the DCEU’s best reviewed film and a huge box office hit, and Aladdin went on to positive audience reviews, and grossed a healthy $100M in four days, two weekends ago. Nope, negative buzz isn’t always reflective of the final product itself… Unless you’re Dark Phoenix. Then it’s entirely true.
