Marvel’s ‘Loki’ Series Style Inspired By ‘Se7en’ and ‘Silence of the Lambs’

In the global press conference today for Marvel’s Loki, director Kate Herron and writer Michael Waldron revealed the style of the drama-crime series was inspired by the films, Se7en, Zodiac, and Silence of the Lambs. The series does have a dark aspect — muted colors around the series — which Herron used to highlight similar film noir aspects.

Owen Wilson Talks About Being in the MCU in New ‘Loki’ Featurette

It’s been a long time coming for the celebrated actor Owen Wilson to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s hard to believe he’s never been in a Marvel film or television series. Having been part of the Disney family since 2006 in Disney Pixar’s Cars as the voice of Lightning McQueen, Wilson never really thought about being part of the MCU until he was pitched to by Loki director Kate Herron. Now, Wilson plays Time Variance Authority (TVA) agent, Mobius, who works with Loki (Tom Hiddleston) to stop a rogue variant from killing more of his Time Agents in Marvel Studio’s Loki.

Infinity Rain: An Avengers / Prince Mash-Up, Annotated

Note: I made this with the intent to commemorate the third anniversary of Prince’s passing on April 21, 2016. Just so happens, Avengers: Endgame premieres this week on April 25 (if you’re reading this blog you probably have heard about that). The premise was to re-contextualize last year’s rather lengthy Avengers: Infinity War, set to all the songs on 1984’s Purple Rain, in the order they appear on that definitive work of pop music. The thinking was, in terms of emotional/dramatic arcs, Purple Rain the album is more coherent and composed than Infinity War (I wouldn’t make the same claim if we were talking about Purple Rain the film, but in this case we aren’t).

Diego Luna to Reprise Role in Cassian Andor Series for Disney+

Well, that was unexpected.

In a conference call with reporters, Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed a second live action Star Wars series will be coming to Disney’s long-anticipated streaming service. Rogue One star Diego Luna will be reprising the role of Cassian Andor in a series set before the events (obviously) of the Star Wars Story that grossed over a billion dollars in 2016. The series follows The Mandalorian from Jon Favreau as Lucasfilm looks to expand the Galaxy Far, Far Away to (live action) television.

S.H.I.E.L.D. Season Two: Agents of C.H.A.N.G.E.

I don’t live-tweet very often. I usually leave that job to the professionals here. But last night, I found myself watching the second season premiere of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC, and I happened to have my phone with me at the time.

It’s no secret that I’m not the biggest fan of the series. From the jump last season, the show reminded me of everything that I usually hate from a Joss Whedon production. That said, I continued to watch it out of some sort of nerd obligation. And while the post-Winter Soldier episodes did get relatively better, the second season premiere wasn’t really on my radar all summer.
