‘Children of Blood and Bone’ Will Be the Next Big Fantasy Film Franchise

Author Tomi Adeyemi released the first book in the series in 2018. Between debuting at No. 1 on the New York Times Bestseller list and being approached for the sale of its film rights, it was clear that the demand for an all-Black fantasy saga was desperately needed in Hollywood.

Going Bananas with ‘Primate’ Star Victoria Wyant

Audiences are going ape for Primate, which surprisingly became the #1 thriller in the country this past weekend! It’s been a while since horror fans were treated to an old school creature feature, and thankfully the monkey shines of a rabid chimpanzee named Ben were what they needed to satisfy that itch. More rare than any simian-based horror movie, however, is one with prominent Asian cast members. Which is why we were so pleased when we got the opportunity to chat with one of the film’s stars, mixed-Asian actress, Victoria Wyant, who is wonderful as Kate in the new chiller!

Jayme Lawson and Daniel Ezra Break Down Edgar Wright’s ‘The Running Man’

The Running Man is one of Stephen King’s bleakest futures, where working-class bodies are fed into state-approved spectacle. First adapted in 1987, the story now finds new life in Edgar Wright’s reimagining, with Glenn Powell in the lead and Jayme Lawson and Daniel Ezra grounding the reality TV carnage in emotional nuance and human stakes.

‘The Running Man’ Delivers Sharp Truths Even When it’s a Bit Overhyped

In a world where entertainment thrives on dehumanization, Stephen King’s The Running Man remains one of the most unsettlingly relevant dystopias. The book made for a memorable 1987 film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, and now Edgar Wright’s adaptation pays clear homage to the source while recalibrating it for an era of algorithms, streaming spectacle, and disposable labor. The premise still excites, but the film’s frantic energy sometimes scatters its sharpest ideas.

The Final Mission Begins in New ‘Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning’ Trailer

The Mission: Impossible films have given us so much, and never asked for anything in return other than for our jaws to drop. And drop they have, just as fast and far as Tom Cruise does whenever he’s filming a big stunt. The films are a love letter to the magic of practical stunt work, and the power of fun, escapist popcorn cinema at its finest. Now the countdown begins for what is rumored to be Cruise’s final bow as the incomparable Ethan Hunt, with Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning!

‘Novocaine’ Stars Amber Midthunder and Jacob Batalon Feel Badass

Action has a new name: Nathan Caine is Novocaine! If that sounds like a tagline for a classic action romp, it’s because that’s exactly what Novocaine is! However, an action hero is only as good as the badasses supporting him. And in this case those badasses are Amber Midthunder and Jacob Batalon!

Fred Hechinger on the Parallels of ‘Gladiator II’ and the Politics of Today

Joaquin Phoenix’s first Academy Award nomination was for the role of Emperor Commodus in the first Gladiator film. The role went down in history as one of the best movie villains of that decade. So to walk in the footsteps of the legacy of such a performance and a character would have been a challenge for any actor.

NOC Review: ‘Gladiator II’ Honors Its Predecessor with Strength and Blood

There are very few films in cinematic history — especially from the ‘00s — that many would consider perfect. But 24 years ago, Ridley Scott’s Gladiator became a monumental box office success, an Oscar Winner for Best Picture, and is now considered to be one of the best films of its decade. So I was insanely skeptical about Gladiator II.

And we were fortunate enough to chat with her about this stellar performance in the critically acclaimed horror film, hitting theaters today!
