Gamora. Nebula. The High Evolutionary. Humanimals. Believe it or not, these specific larger than life characters aren’t made using VFX. They’ve been meticulously brought to life by some of the most unsung heroes in the entire entertainment industry: the incredible hair and makeup crew of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3!

Recently we were able to discuss how the worlds of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and a few of the CG specific characters like Rocket, Floor, Teefs, and Lyla were brought to life by the amazing VFX crew of the film. But in addition to that team, we also got even more details about the magic of moviemaking from the film’s Hair Department Head, Cassie Russek, Makeup Department Head, Alexei Dmitriew, and Prosthetics Design Supervisor, Lindsay MacGowan! Together, these incredible artists and their teams were able to bring the citizens of Counter-Earth to life with painstaking prosthetics and hair designs, worthy of Oscars (and Emmys in the case of their recent nominations for The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special).
