Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige Discusses ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’

All Marvel fans know Kevin Feige as the President of Marvel Studios and of course, he is also a producer on its latest project, Deadpool & Wolverine. The film, which will be released in theaters on July 26, serves as Deadpool’s eagerly anticipated entrance into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but that’s not all — he’s bringing Wolverine along for the ride! It’s safe to say the MCU will never be the same.

Marvel Studios presents their most significant mistake to date — Deadpool & Wolverine. A listless Wade Wilson toils away in civilian life. His days as the morally flexible mercenary, Deadpool, behind him. When his homeworld faces an existenFal threat, Wade must reluctantly suit-up again with an even more reluctantlier… reluctanter? Reluctantest? He must convince a reluctant Wolverine to — Fuck. Synopses are so fucking stupid.

“There’s so many theater experiences that I had on other movies, right, that made me want to be a filmmaker, made me want to make not just movies, but the kinds of movies that elicit that kind of emotional response from a crowd,” he told me.

“There are all sorts of cinematic moments that are in my core DNA and rewrote my DNA that I feel like I chase when we make our own movies. Avengers: Endgame was a very special moment to be in a full theater for, but so was Iron Man 1Iron Man 1, when we didn’t know how people would respond to that film and to the way Jon Favreau and Downey were putting that movie to the screen, and that was pretty exciting to see it. There were [even] some movies that we finished right up to the last minute and I remember sitting in a theater with the first Ant-Man film, which was right down to the wire, and finished it and it came out, and seeing people respond to Rudd, which you knew Rudd is so great you know people are gonna respond to him, but the way that story came across. So that was very exciting and I am so lucky I get to have those moments in real life many times. Seeing Hugh in the yellow outfit for the first time next to Ryan. By the way, obviously, I was not involved in the first two Deadpool movies, so when I went to set on Deadpool & Wolverine, that was the first time I’d ever seen Ryan in the costume, in person and you’re like, ‘If we can just get some of this into the camera and out onto the screen to the audience, we’re gonna be in business,’ and I’m very excited for people to see the whole movie.”
