Freedom Fighter

In the age of #BlackLivesMatter and the Trump administration, bigotry and institutional oppression have been front burner topics more than ever before on social media and in 3D-space.

Needless to say freedom fighters such as myself are speaking our truths and shining light on the darkness that is racism and other forms of bigotry.

Unfortunately when you tell the truth and shame the devil, the devil will move heaven and hell to try to silence you.

Trigger Warning: Rape Culture

An oracle by the name of Maya Angelou once said, “When someone tells you who they really are, believe them the first time.”

I’ve mentioned this before and it always bears repeating. It’s not always the grand gestures that will reveal the content of a person’s character. Or, lack thereof. If you’re an astute observer and know how to ask the right questions, it’s the seemingly minute comments and actions and the inevitability of time that will reveal all.

Midnighter Mode in 3………2………..1………….

Be a Part of the 2016 Angry Asian Man Subscriber Drive

Last month, one of our favorite blogs reached another milestone as Angry Asian Man celebrated its 15th anniversary. A decade and a half of being one of the most influential Asian Americans on the internet is no easy feat, so we’re hoping you can head on over to his site and help Phil Yu with his annual donation drive. You’ll get some cool swag out of it too.

The Most Watched Hard N.O.C. Life Episodes

We’re continuing the celebration of our two-year anniversary week with another look back. This time, we’re going to count down the top ten most watched episodes of Hard N.O.C. Life, our (semi-)weekly YouTube series where I talk to folks about various topics.

When the site first launched in 2013, the idea for a YouTube show utilizing the Google Hangout format was going to be one of the main pillars. I had just come off a stint appearing on a similarly formatted show about basketball (more specifically, about Jeremy Lin) created by Terry Park for Asian CineVision and thought the format would be great for talking comics, movies, and TV. And thus, Hard N.O.C. Life
was born!

So just like we did yesterday, we’ve combed through the archives to find these, the ten most viewed HNL episodes over the last two years.

The N.O.C.’s Most Read Posts of All Time

In this case, “all time” refers to two years. You see, today marks the second anniversary of the official launch of the site. Since that time, we’ve amassed dozens of contributors, hundreds of articles, thousands of readers, and hundreds of thousands of views. It’s humbling, and as the site’s lead editor, I want to thank each and everyone who has made the Nerds of Color what it is today, two years later.

So before we move forward into Year Three, I wanted to look back at the last two, and share ten of the most read posts in the history of the blog. Also, if you haven’t already, be sure to follow us on twitter and Facebook where we’ll be sharing links to these classic posts all week. Anyway, on to the countdown!

Angry Asian Man Asks for Your Support

by Phil Yu | Originally posted at Angry Asian Man

I’ve been running Angry Asian Man for over thirteen years. When I first launched the blog, it was a humble little endeavor, and I honestly didn’t expect anyone to read it, outside of a few close friends. Well, it’s still a humble little endeavor, with maybe just a little more notoriety now. Somehow, over a dozen years later, it’s become a thing. A destination. A resource. And I’ve dedicated myself to managing and writing the best blog I can.

So thank you for reading.

Heads up. Later on in this post, I’m going to be asking you for money. Just letting you know, if you’re not interested in reading that sort of thing. Before we get to that part, I have a few things to share.
