NOC Review: Lackluster ‘Imaginary’ is More Fantasy Than Horror

This time last year, Blumhouse was on a roll. M3GAN was making a killing at the box office. And the year prior they released the final film of David Gordon Green’s Halloween trilogy, and the critical and commercial hit, The Black Phone, paving the way for the juggernauts of Insidious: The Red Door and Five Nights at Freddy’s. Unfortunately, following the disappointing Night Swim, the house that Jason Blum built has seen a rough 2024. And sadly the streak continues with the new lackluster film, Imaginary.

NOC Review: ‘The Exorcist: Believer’ is Not Very Compelling

What a disappointing start to the Fall Movie Season. First The Creator, now The Exorcist: Believer. These were two highly anticipated films for me this year, with this one supposedly being a follow up to my favorite horror movie of all time. And sadly, Believer simply doesn’t live up to what’s been otherwise a pretty solid year for horror, much less the legacy of its namesake.

Blumhouse Mastermind Jason Blum on His New Masterpiece, ‘The Black Phone’

There’s no argument that the Blumhouse of Horrors (aka Blumhouse Productions) has made as profound an impact on the horror genre as Marvel Studios has on comic book films. With just a few low-budget hits, Jason Blum put his stamp, not just on horror, but the entire film industry as a whole. We had a chance to sit with the head of Blumhouse, himself, to talk about his latest upcoming masterpiece, The Black Phone. Check out our interview here!
