Meet the New Emotions from ‘Inside Out 2’

In 2015, Pixar’s Inside Out was a hilarious but honest portrayal of how we process our feelings and respond to certain situations. Not much time has passed for these characters, but it’s been an eternity for audiences. Inside Out 2 focuses on the next chapter of Riley’s life as a teenager who experiences puberty and shakeups in her relationships with her parents and friends. It’s all a part of the process of growing up. And the sequel will reveal how she processes Anxiety, Envy, Embarrassment, and Ennui on her uncharted emotional journey.

‘Inside Out 2’ Trailer Introduces Us to the New Anxiety Voice in Riley’s Head

Inside Out was just one of those films that let everyone know that it is okay to feel your emotion. Pete Docter’s film was a joyous and sometimes somber celebration of expressing your emotions freely and without judgment. So, when Bing Bong faded away and was never to be remembered ever again, we all cried. Then we all cheered when Joy discovered that every emotion has its place. And it seems fitting that Inside Out 2′s first trailer introduce us to Anxiety, which is something that affects many to this very day. One thing is for sure, things are about to get very strange.

‘Elemental’ Trailer Showcases Pixar’s Take on the Rom-Com Genre

The concept that opposites attract has been the basis for our favorite rom-com films. Of course, as humans, we are more alike than we are different. So, Pixar put a creative elemental spin on that for their forthcoming animated film, Elemental. And now, the newly released trailer shows us what happens when two elemental forces like Fire and Water come into each other’s lives.

‘Lightyear’ Trailer is Not Pretending to Go to Infinity and Beyond

It all started with a cowboy and a space ranger in Pixar’s Toy Story. Nearly 30 years later, the studio will be releasing Lightyear, its first spinoff film based on the Toy Story film franchise, that follows the man that inspired the Buzz Lightyear space ranger toy. Disney’s Latest Film Shows the ‘Soul’ of New York

For an animated slice-of-Black-New-York-life, Disney’s new Pixar film Soul joins Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse in showing new parts of New York not typically glamorized by Hollywood.  Despite being one of the most famous cities in the world, there are dozens of neighborhoods and experiences viewers never see on the silver screen. New York City isn’t just the glitz and glamor of midtown, the brunch bunch of Brooklyn, or the gentrified hives in Harlem.

‘Soul’ Producers Address the Blue Elephant in the Room

Pixar’s Soul takes a musical journey into the meaning of life — literally. In the film, Joe Gardner seems to be the prototype for “if you can’t do, teach.” But he very much wants to do. However, just when he’s about to get his first jazz gig, he dies. *insert Price is Right trombone.*

The first 35 minutes of the jazzy New York-set movie that I saw were great. Joe (Jamie Foxx), upon his death, is sent to the Great Before. There he meets apathetic New Soul 22 (Tina Fey), who finds it in her own best interest to help Joe return to his life on Earth. Sensing the direction of the rest of the movie, I imagine it will be as heartfelt as every other Pixar classic. It’s new Christmas Day home release feels like a really good choice to celebrate life, the purpose of art in our lives, and exploring how we connect with ourselves and others.
