Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio On Power and Violence in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’

We’re so back! It’s been a long wait for fans of Daredevil. Back when the first series was cancelled on Netflix after three seasons, fans rallied and cried to bring it back with the #SaveDaredevil campaign. Little did we know that seven years later, the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen would be saved, hallway fighting back to our screens under Marvel Studios. His epic return in the new series Daredevil: Born Again premieres on Disney+ March 4. And we were able to sit with the stars of the show, Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk themselves, Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio!

With Daredevil: Born Again, Marvel Studios has began the opportunity to explore one of the most popular and recent storylines from the comics, Devil’s Reign, in which convicted felon Wilson Fisk is elected mayor of New York, and begins a crusade against vigilante justice and his own enemies. If that sounds familiar, it’s because we’re absolutely living in those times right now. So the show touching on something so relevant to what we’re seeing today on the news with our country makes everything we’re seeing with Matt and Fisk hit a lot closer to home. With the show thematically being about one staying moral with the internal anger and wrath brewing within, I believe Daredevil: Born Again has the chance to offer audiences something they need at this point in time: catharsis and allegory.

Hence, we were absolutely fortunate to discuss this topic with D’Onofrio, and also discuss the nature of morality and violence with Cox, in our interview below. Check it out right here:

This is just the beginning! We have two more interviews for Daredevil: Born Again coming to you the next few days, including one with MCU directors Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson, and another with showrunner Dario Scardapane and executive producer (and creator of Kamala Khan!) Sana Amanat!

Daredevil: Born Again hits Disney+ March 4th!
