‘Peacemaker’ Stars Jennifer Holland, Frank Grillo, and David Denman on Second Chances

Peacemaker is back! Season 2 is here on HBO Max. However, this year, things are different: different worlds, different characters, different adventures and shenanigans for the 11th Street Kids to get into. And we were so lucky to get into the core of all of this with stars Jennifer Holland, Frank Grillo, and David Denman.

Spoiler alert for those who have not seen the first episode of Season 2: this year we are venturing into uncharted territory. Peacemaker finds himself in an alternate dimension almost exactly identical to his, but better. He discovers what it would be like to live in a world where he’s appreciated as a hero, the woman he is in love with actually loves him back, and the people he lost are still with him. It’s a scenario that allows the show to ask difficult existential questions of its characters about what they would do if they were given the chance to give up the imperfect, dissatisfying life they have for the one they always wanted. In some ways, it asks us, the audience what we would do in that scenario as well.

It’s a layer of humanity that absolutely makes this show and its characters so very relatable, and at its center are three characters that represent the perfections and imperfections of the worlds Peacemaker is caught between. In one world, Holland’s Harcourt dismisses Chris Smith’s affections, and Grillo’s Rick Flag Sr. is out to kill him for the sins he’s committed in that life. In the other world, Harcourt loves him, and Denman’s character exists. The emotional whiplash between the two worlds is something that plays very heavily into the overall themes of the season and Peacemaker’s growth as a character. And we were incredibly lucky to speak with the three actors playing the characters that incite this growth the most in Peacemaker.

Here is what Holland, Grillo, and Denman had to say about their characters and their respective impacts in Peacemaker Season 2:
