This weekend has been an absolute whirlwind of news for genre fans, as San Diego Comic-Con 2024 raged its way through fandom with the latest and greatest news imaginable. We covered some of the Hall H experiences we attended (Marvel Studios and Alien: Romulus), as well as some of the parties (Fandom). However, one of the most fun experiences was the activation for the highly anticipated video game adaptation, Borderlands. Over the weekend, we were able to attend a replica of Moxxi’s Bar from the film and games in real life!

Borderlands is almost here folks! And to celebrate the chaos, Lionsgate has dropped a brand new trailer for the highly anticipated video game adaptation! The live action feature adaptation of the popular video game franchise is hitting theaters August 9, and it brings with it an all-star cast including Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Ariana Greenblatt, Florian Munteanu, Gina Gershon, and Jamie Lee Curtis. And man, if you’ve ever played the games, you know how crazy this is gonna get!

Today’s the day, adventurers! Disney’s Jungle Cruise is setting sail in theaters and on Disney+ right now, and screens all over are lighting up with the charismatic flair of Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, Edgar Ramirez, and Jack Whitehall. To celebrate the release of this rollicking ride, The Nerds of Color was invited to attend a virtual press conference for the movie with the cast. As a kid of the ’90s who loved going to Disneyland, never missed The Rock laying the Smackdown Thursday nights on WWE, and who was majorly obsessed with action adventures like The Mummy, this movie may have been made for me. Disney’s Jungle Cruise is a return to form for big movies with lots of heart, laughter, and a mighty dose of action-adventure that needs to be seen on the biggest screen possible.

Disney has just dropped a new trailer for their upcoming summer blockbuster, Jungle Cruise, starring Dwayne Johnson and Ethel Brunt Emily Blunt. The trailer, focusing on Johnson’s character, Skipper Frank, was introduced by the big man himself, and showcases a lot more humor than previous previews we’ve seen, going as so far as to shrink the title card of Johnson’s own magnificent co-star.
Not long after Dwayne Johnson took to social media to announce Disney’s Jungle Cruise will be hitting theaters and Disney+ with Premier Access on July 30th, the mega studio has decided to drop a new, exciting trailer filled to brim with CGI and quippy dialogue. We also get a sense of the film’s plot and some fun looking action sequences in this one. The one thing it needs more of are the dad-jokes we get from the ride! Check out the trailer below:
