Sony’s ‘Missing’ Highlights How Society Responds to Missing Black Women

Missing executive producer Sev Ohanian said it’s great seeing this movie with an audience after I told him this would be my first viewing of the film at the special CAPE and Product of Culture screening. And, it was.

From the creative minds of the 2018 critically-acclaimed film Searching, Missing follows the same technological format as its predecessor, filled with unexpected twists and turns that are amplified with audiences’ gasps.

Tyla Talks Task Force X: An Interview with Storm Reid of ‘The Suicide Squad’

The Suicide Squad is my favorite movie of the year so far. James Gunn’s tribute to the pulpy demented works of John Ostrander’s DC run in the ’80s is bloody, bold, and brilliantly surreal. And none of it would be possible if it wasn’t for a stolen Style Watch!

‘The Suicide Squad’ and the Funniest. Press. Conference. Ever!

Oh boy. Buckle up nerds! The Suicide Squad is coming! I’m not talking about the movie, by the way. I’m talking about the most insane and hilarious group of people I’ve ever seen at a press conference.

NOC Review: ‘The Suicide Squad’ is Pure Comic Book Punk Rock

You’ll have to forgive me for geeking out just a bit here. But I’ve had the pleasure of seeing this insane movie twice now, and I still want more. I cannot begin to describe to you all how much I enjoyed this movie the first time, and even how much more I enjoyed it the second time around. The Suicide Squad is James Gunn off the leash! And I think comic book movies will be better for it!

It’s not every day you’re afforded the opportunity to chat with one of your favorite filmmakers. And this past week, I got that chance! It’s definitely your mission to watch it all and enjoy with a big-ass smile on your face, like I did! 😀

It Was a Dark and Stormy Night…

I will present to you one of the most beautiful sentences in recent memory: Ava DuVernay is directing the film adaptation of Madeline L’Engle’s A Wrinkle in Time. The sentence itself isn’t beautiful, but what it conveys is. We’ve all seen the hype and hoopla around DuVernay being the first black women to helm a $100 million dollar film. While this is an accomplishment worth lauding, DuVernay can make a beautiful film on half a shoestring and great storytelling. She is also the queen of cinematic #BlackGirlMagic. I’ll get to why this is important in a bit.
