Pornsak Pichetshote Brings His Thai American Perspective to DC’s ‘Dead Boy Detectives’

When I first ran into writer Pornsak Pichetshote to talk about his latest DC Comics series The Sandman Universe: Dead Boy Detectives, he was nervous about the conversation that would come up — especially since I texted him prior that I had a lot to say after receiving an early copy of the first issue. Pichetshote and I have known each other for years in the same Thai American entertainment circles. So, when I was alerted he was penning the next Dead Boy Detectives comics surrounding Thai culture and the Thai American community, I knew I had to talk to him about it.

Ahead of its premiere this October on the Disney Channel, the animated buddy-comedy The Ghost and Molly McGree has been renewed for a second season! Executive produced by Bill Motz, Bob Roth, and Steve Loter, the series follows Thai American tween Molly McGee (Ashly Burch), who lives to make the world a better place, and grumpy ghost Scratch (Dana Snyder), who is always miserable, as they go through life together and build this unexpected friendship.

NOC Presents: A SEA Conversation about ‘Raya and the Last Dragon’

With Raya and the Last Dragon out for about a week now, there are many thoughts and opinions being shared across the Internet about it. While a few of us here at The Nerds of Color have written extensively about Disney’s first Southeast Asian film, I thought it would be appropriate to gather together the Southeast Asian Nerds of Color writers and discuss it. Together with Laura Sirikul, Mike Manalo, and Patrick Michael Strange, in a conversation about as long as Raya and the Last Dragon itself, we go in-depth on everything from the film’s plot, how it tackled the topic of trust, the characters, the majority East Asian cast, the lack of Filipino culture and actors, and more.
