Disney has released the first The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, and it brings all sorts of good cheer to Marvel Studio fans. While James Gunn spreads joy across the galaxy, it seems that Star-Lord is still depressed about Gamora not being around. So it will be up to Drax (Dave Bautista) and Mantis (Pom Klementieff) to help lift him up with a little holiday spirit that comes in the form of a gift called Kevin Bacon.
Billed as A Marvel Studios Special Presentation — the same way that Werewolf By Night was — the special is another chance for fans to see the group of galactic misfits before they head off on their final adventure in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Gunn has also said that the Holiday Special connects to the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. So whatever we see in it will give us a small tease of whats the come in the trilogy capper.
While Werewolf by Night was a love letter to the classic black-and-white horror films of the past, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special centers on its titular ragtag crew discovering the true meaning of Christmas.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special wouldn’t be the first time that Marvel Studios has released a title set during the most wonderful time of the year. Previous titles include Iron Man 3, Hawkeye, and Spider-Man: No Way Home.
One thing is for sure, it will be fun to see Drax and Mantis get into some Christmas hijinks as they travel across Los Angeles in an attempt to kidnap — I mean present — Kevin Bacon as a gift to Peter. Of course, Nebula doesn’t want to have anything to do with something as trivial as Christmas.
Meanwhile, Rocket (the voice of Bradley Cooper) and Groot (the voice of Vin Diesel) are determined to make things a little brighter as they decorate for the occasion by adorning a room with Christmas lights and falling snow, and dressing up with red ribbons and ugly Christmas sweaters.
Cosmo the Space Dog, The Old 97’s, and Michael Rooker also make appearances.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special debuts on November 25, 2022, exclusively on Disney+.
Here’s the official plot synopsis for The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special:
