The Amazing Kaylee Hottle on ‘Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire’

It’s been a terrific time for representation for the Deaf community in entertainment. With CODA winning Best Picture in 2021, and the addition of characters like Lauren Ridloff’s Makkari from Eternals, and Alaqua Cox’s Echo to big franchises like the MCU, strong, empowered characters representing Deaf individuals have never been more compelling and more prominent in pop culture. And now we can add Kaylee Hottle’s Jia to that list in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire!

NOC Review: ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ is an Imperfect Good Time

The online world is ridiculous. We all know it. Most stupid “leaks” and rumors involving Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny have been planted by small minded “anti-woke” trolls in an attempt to perpetuate anti-Disney agendas and garner unearned clicks. And while I have no real dog in those fights, other than to denounce the stupidity of anyone who believes “woke culture is ruining the world,” I have to say it’s all BS. Don’t be gullible. Most of it is wrong. And the movie is perfectly fine! Enjoyable, even!

‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ VFX Artists on Creating Realistic Water in a CG World

When Avatar first came out in 2009, it used cutting-edge VFX technology to bring the jungle world of Pandora to life. The alien flora and fauna and the indigenous 10-foot-tall blue-skinned Na’vi looked so real. Even more so when watching it in 3D. More than a decade later, director James Cameron gives audiences a reason to revisit Pandora with the highly anticipated sequel Avatar: The Way of Water. The sequel explores new territories and utilizes newer natural elements like water. The latter of which has never been done before.

Editing the Dystopian World of ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ with Affonso Goncalves

They say that shooting a movie means collecting footage, but editing a movie makes it a film. Ok, that’s not an actual quote from anywhere, I just made it up. But doesn’t make it any less true. The editing process is actually where a movie finds itself. And for director Olivia Wilde’s head-trip, Don’t Worry Darling, you need a strong editor to bring to life the nightmarish fever dream poor Florence Pugh must fight through. That’s where Affonso Goncalves comes in!

NOC Exclusive: Creating Panda Mei in BTS ‘Turning Red’ Clip

Disney and Pixar’s Turning Red was a smashing hit on the studio’s exclusive streaming platform. I know I’m guilty of watching it more than a couple of times since its release. But now, the animated film is ready for its home entertainment release. Pixar’s Approach to Making ‘Lightyear’ a Sci-Fi Epic

Pixar may be known for its originals, but the animation studio has also produced a few sequels and prequels for its unforgettable films. While the Toy Story films may have given us a glimpse at Woody’s history, Lightyear serves as the definitive origins story for the brave space ranger that we all know and love. But rather than follow the character as a toy, the spinoff is presented to us as one of Andy’s favorite Sci-Fi films. As such, director Angus MacLane assembled a group of talented artists to achieve that cinematic look and feel that one gets when watching a Sci-Fi movie like Star Wars and Aliens.

Pixar’s NASA Research Trip Helped Influence the Look and Feel of ‘Lightyear’

In 1995, Disney•Pixar would release the first of four Toy Story films, not to mention countless other shorts and TV specials, making them the premier animation studio. And throughout these films, we’ve seen Woody and Buzz in all sorts of adventures. Though we’ve seen glimpses of “Woody’s Roundup,” the show that inspired the cowboy doll Andy played with, Buzz’s story remained untold. That is until Pixar decided to make Lightyear, an all-new Sci-Fi epic adventure that would be the movie Andy watched in 1995.

‘Snake Eyes’ Now Available to Own Digitally; Blu-Ray in October

It’s no secret that Snake Eyes holds a special place in my heart. No matter the critical reception of the film, it was always going to be a movie I celebrate. While I would’ve approached the movie differently, I am still holding out hope for a follow-up film so we can see the further adventures of Henry Golding as Snake Eyes, Andrew Koji as Storm Shadow, and the rest of the cast.

Springing into Action at the ‘Black Widow’ Press Conference

There’s honestly nothing in this world that makes me happier than Marvel Studios does. And naturally, we have not done a press conference for an MCU film since Endgame back in 2019. And I know we’ve had three shows to kick off Phase 4, of course; one of which I was lucky to attend a press conference for. But to be honest, there’s something different and special about the films that just represents everything we love about this universe. And to be able to say we’ll have the chance to return to theaters and see the MCU play out on the big screen again? That’s just incredibly exciting and wonderful!
