Talking About ‘TRON: Ares’ with Arturo Castro

I loved TRON: Ares! Based on reviews from my fellow colleagues, I’m glad to know I’m not the only one. TRON may be a niche franchise, but I simply can’t get enough of the crazy lightcycle sequences, the insane disc battles, buzzing techno soundtracks, and giant recognizers eclipsing the neon-lit skylines of The Grid! So I’m incredibly thrilled to share a bonus TRON interview with you all: a conversation with the hilarious and charismatic Arturo Castro!

One of the things I loved about TRON: Ares, that’s actually unique to this installment in the franchise, is that it is a rare blockbuster that has been incredibly inclusive in terms of its cast. Ares has brought together the likes of talented POC actors like Greta Lee, Hasan Minhaj, and Castro, placing them in pivotal roles. And we were so lucky to talk to Lee previously, so getting to talk to Castro next was an incredible surprise!

Castro has been growing and blowing up as an actor over the past few years! His sincerity and range has allowed him to portray a charming roommate to Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the Apple series, Mr. Corman, a smarmy businessman in The Menu, and now Seth, the right-hand man to Lee’s Eve Kim in TRON: Ares. Watching a Guatemalan actor like him find terrific success across a variety of different projects has been absolutely as rewarding as seeing franchises like TRON branching out to put POC actors in starring roles.

We had a chance to sit down with Castro to discuss his role in TRON, and his hopes for the potential future of the franchise! Take a look at what he had to say here:
