UPDATED: Get Ready to Meet Frank AND Lily in the New ‘Jungle Cruise’ Trailers

Disney has just dropped a new trailer for their upcoming summer blockbuster, Jungle Cruise, starring Dwayne Johnson and Ethel Brunt Emily Blunt. The trailer, focusing on Johnson’s character, Skipper Frank, was introduced by the big man himself, and showcases a lot more humor than previous previews we’ve seen, going as so far as to shrink the title card of Johnson’s own magnificent co-star.

Trailer for Disney Channel’s ‘Spin’ Drops the Beat

Credit where credit is due, Disney Channel has been making really good strides to tell multicultural and diverse stories for the past decade or so, arguably more than we see in most Hollywood films. Looking back at movies like Johnny Tsunami, or cartoons like American Dragon: Jake Long and Proud Family, and even more recent shows like Andi Mack, and you can’t help but give them props for casting POCs as leads and actually making those leads’ cultures central to the stories they’re trying to tell. And their upcoming movie, Spin is no exception.

Jumping In With the Cast and Creators of Pixar’s ‘Luca’

One of the most wonderful things about working with The Nerds of Color is that I find myself constantly in the most fortunate position of getting to meet some of the best, most talented individuals working today. And when you think about talent in Hollywood, few brands come to mind greater than Pixar Animation Studios. In celebration of the release of its newest masterpiece, Luca, which hits Disney+ today, I was fortunate enough to meet with the director and producer of the film, Enrico Casarosa and Andrea Warren, as well as legendary comedian, Jim Gaffigan (who voices Lorenzo in the film), and two of the most talented young actors working in the industry today: Jack Dylan Grazer, who plays Alberto, and Jacob Tremblay, who plays the titular character, Luca Paguro.

NOC Review: Pixar’s ‘Luca’ is Molto Bello

I’ve done several Pixar reviews for this site already, dating back to Toy Story 4 through to Soul. And every single one I cover tends to start with the usual: something something unique, something something they set the standard, etc. By now you know the drill. They’re still considered the best in the business. And while several other animation studios are worthy of the mantle (particularly Laika, Walt Disney Feature Animation, and Sony Pictures Animation are coming for it), at this juncture, Pixar’s only greatest competition is Pixar.

John McCrea on Playing Cruella’s Ride or Die and ‘Everybody’s Talking About Jamie’

In the upcoming retelling of the 101 Dalmatians villainess Cruella de Vil, Disney’s Cruella tells the story of a young Cruella (Emma Stone) and her rise as a famous (or infamous) fashion designer and future dog-killer. The film follows Cruella’s upbringing and the friends (or minions) she makes along the way. One of those friends is queer vintage shop owner, Artie or Art “as in work of art,” played by British actor/singer John McCrea.

Set in the vibrant punk era of ’70s London, Cruella is the origin story of the stylishly villainous Cruella de Vil. Una Bellisima Anteprima di ‘Luca’ della Pixar

Okay, I’m getting a bit pretentious with the faux Italian title (translated it means “A Beautiful Preview of Pixar’s Luca“). But English words just don’t do the beauty of Pixar’s animation proper justice; particularly for their upcoming film Luca, set to debut on Disney+ this summer! Luca tells an adorable story about two close friends from Italy who set out on an adventure to make a life of their own in a superstitious seaside town along the Italian Riviera. The twist? They’re both actually sea monsters from underneath the coastal shore.

Disney’s ‘Godmothered’ has Jillian Bell, Isla Fisher, and Santiago Cabrera in Unexpected Roles

When the premise and the cast to Disney’s Christmas film Godmothered were first announced, which told the story of an inexperienced Fairy Godmother-in-training set out to help make a wish come true, one would think the casting got all mixed up.

The film stars Jillian Bell (Brittany Runs a Marathon, 22 Jump Street) as Eleanor, the hopeful, yet naïve, fairy Godmother-in-training, wanting to show the world that people still need fairy godmothers. After finding a mislaid letter from a 10-year-old girl in distress, Eleanor tracks the little girl down and discovers that the little girl, Mackenzie (Isla Fisher), is now a bitter 40-year-old single mom working a tiring job at a news station in Boston. Having lost her husband several years earlier, Mackenzie no longer believes in “Happily Ever After,” but Eleanor is determined to fix that frown upside down and find what truly makes her happy.

This week, the world will meet Timmy Failure. The Disney+ Original movie, Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made directed by Academy Award-Winning director, Tom McCarthy, will debut on Friday, February 7, on the streaming platform, but it’s already making waves with a whopping 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, and a well received premiere at Sundance earlier this year. And last week, The Nerds of Color was lucky enough to meet with the film’s stars, Winslow Fegley (Timmy Failure) and Chloe Coleman (Molly Moskins) to discuss the film, as well as the future of movies and TV.
