‘Tenet’ Trailer Teases Nolan’s Nolaniest Movie Yet

Few directors are franchises unto themselves. But the way Marvel Studios owns the first weekend in May and Star Wars lays claim to the middle of December, Christopher Nolan is synonymous with the mid-July blockbuster. In 2020, that will be the case once again when Warner Bros. releases Tenet.

Earlier this year, the studio debuted a short teaser for Tenet that was only available in theaters — and stricken from YouTube faster than it could be bootlegged. Now the entire internet has been invited to the famed director’s latest adventure. Though a disclaimer at the end implores people to see the trailer in theaters for “maximum impact.” You know how much Nolan loves the cinema experience!

The trailer for Tenet spotlights the globe-hopping settings, insane visuals, practical stuntwork, and time-bending plot that Nolan films are best known for. That said, I still couldn’t tell you what the movie’s about, but Tenet stars BlacKkKlansmen’s John David Washington (son of Denzel) and re-teams the director with Michael Caine and a Batman, so you know I’m going to be there opening day.

Joining Washington and Caine are Robert Pattinson (the aforementioned Batman), Elizabeth Debicki, Dimple Kapadia, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Clémence Poésy, Himesh Patel, and Kenneth Branagh. Check out the official one-sheet below.

Tenet opens in theaters — including special IMAX and 70mm presentations — on July 17, 2020.
