From showrunner Tia Napolitano, Cruel Summer tells the stories of Kate Wallis, the popular girl with a charmed life, and Jeanette Turner, the nerdy wannabee. When Kate goes missing, everything points to Jeanette’s guilt and she is accused of having something to do with the other girl’s disappearance; but is Kate really who she seems to be? The show takes place over three summers in the 90s and is told from multiple points of view, making the audience question all perceptions. How can one girl go from being a sweet and awkward outlier to the most despised person in America?
