The spring finale of Good Girls aired on May 16 and the show will be switching nights when it returns on June 24 (mark your calendars!). The show is currently on season 4 and has not yet been renewed, but fans and the cast have made it known that they want another season of the popular NBC series.
The show stars Christina Hendricks, Retta, Mae Whitman, Reno Wilson, Manny Montana, Lidya Jewett, Isaiah Stannard, and Matthew Lillard.
Good Girls follows suburban moms Beth (Hendricks), Ruby (Retta) and Annie (Whitman) who, at a loss over how to solve their various crippling financial troubles, decide to rob a supermarket in a heist that attracts the attention of a local gang leader, Rio.
The stakes get higher in season four as the Secret Service closes in on our women’s counterfeit ring. When we last saw Beth, she was struggling to carve out her own criminal path separate from Rio, using her husband’s spa company, Boland Bubbles, as a front. Ruby seemed to have salvaged her marriage after a rocky road, but only time will tell if her hidden secrets implode. Annie is focusing on inner love and healing as she takes the journey to rebuild independence.
Whitman has been sure to add her voice to the #RenewGoodGirls that fans have been using to show they want a season 5, writing, “let’s show @nbc and @netflix how much we do not want to get cancelled and how much we want to #RenewGoodGirls.”
Wilson has also used his Twitter to share his desire for another season, expressing that the show’s fans are “the best” for continually trending the hashtag.
Lillard tweeted, “Fingers crossed, we allllll wanna come back.”
Many fans have praised the show for its portrayal of strong females, one fan commenting how Good Girls “highlights genuine female friendship and women empowerment.”
Let the countdown to June 24 begin and fingers crossed we get a season 5 renewal soon!
