Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, Baby Driver) is frankly one of those directors who never misses. He knows film, loves film, is a student of film, and a teacher of film all in one! His kinetic style, attention to detail, and passion for the craft oozes out of every frame of cinema he directs, and the audience (and the state of filmmaking as a whole) is all the better for it. And whenever his name drops, much like that of Tarantino, Bong-Joon Ho, or Guillermo Del Toro, you can’t help but gasp in anticipation for what he’s going to do next.

As such, when even the tiniest glimpse of his latest movie, Last Night in Soho dropped this morning, ahead of its upcoming full trailer debut on Tuesday, I couldn’t resist but get all over it and share it with everyone here! I’ve been waiting to see any footage whatsoever from Wright’s first straight-horror film (as opposed to the horror-comedy aspects of The Cornetto Trilogy), since he announced it. And I’m sure I’m not alone.
Submitted for your viewing pleasure, here is 15 seconds of Last Minute in Soho!
Not much is known about the film, but it stars Anya-Taylor Joy and Jojo Rabbit breakout star, Thomasin McKenzie. We know it’s going to be a horror film, and from the trailer it looks like it’s definitely evoking shades of ‘70s horror classics like Don’t Look Now.
Now I realize it’s just a taste, but stay tuned to The Nerds of Color for more, as the full trailer will surely be hitting on Tuesday! You won’t want to miss that!
