It’s hard being a teenager. You’re trying to figure out who you are and where you were meant to become. It sounds difficult, but it’s actually not when you are surrounded by the friends who help you along the way. We always need our friends for support and to let us know when we’re in the wrong. That’s what Anna Cathcart, Kerri Medders, and Jahbril Cook are in this Friday’s Disney Original Movie, Spin.
Directed by Manjari Makijany, Spin follows Indian American teen Rhea who lives a pretty normal life that revolves around her eclectic group of friends, her after-school coding club, her family’s Indian restaurant, and her tight-knit, multi-generational family, which includes her father Arvind, younger brother Rohan and her grandmother Asha. However, all of that changes when she meets an aspiring DJ named Max, who introduces her to the world of DJ mixing. She’s a natural on the turntable! After discovering her passion for music, she must figure out how to balance it with her already busy life.

Anna Cathcart, Kerri Medders, and Jahbril Cook play Rhea’s best friends — Molly, Ginger, and Watson, respectively. Molly and Watson are also part of Rhea’s afterschool Coding club where they come up with the wildest inventions! Ginger, who is the most popular girl in school due to her influencer lifestyle, has remained grounded with her best friends, which is really refreshing!
As NOC Kid Reporter, I got to chat with the trio and chat about the film, their characters, music, and just how much they love Indian food.
