FOX’s ‘The Cleaning Lady’ Promotes Sean Lew and Faith Bryant to Series Regulars

Ahead of its highly anticipated premiere on January 3, FOX’s upcoming drama, The Cleaning Lady, starring multi-talented Elodie Yung (Daredevil, The Hitman’s Bodyguard) has announced two new series regulars for the show!

The drama is welcoming formerly recurring stars, Sean Lew and Faith Bryant as full-time series regulars, playing Chris and Jaz respectively. In addition to this news, the show is also bringing on Ivan Shaw as a new recurring character, Marcos.

Per Fox’s Press Release:

Sean Lew, who plays Chris, Thony’s nephew, has been promoted from a recurring character to a series regular. Raised by a single, undocumented mother, Chris ignores his mom’s fears of deportation until reality hits home and he’s forced to realize he’s taken the American Dream for granted. Despite the walls he puts up, Chris has a big heart and is instinctively protective over his family, always making sure he’s there for them when it matters most. Lew is a multi-talented professional dancer, choreographer, award-winning chef, actor, writer, creative director, editor, philanthropist, pianist, and singer of Chinese, Japanese, and Mongolian descent. Since his dance to Lady Gaga’s “Applause” went viral in 2013, Lew danced on national tours, and even became a featured member and competed in two seasons of the junior division of the NBC reality competition series World of Dance. Not only has Lew been featured in various music videos (Justin Bieber, Meghan Trainor), TV shows (Sam and CatGlee), and films (Breaking ThroughStep Up China), he has since added director to his ongoing list of credits with his film II, which he also wrote, choreographed, edited, and starred in.

Faith Bryant, who plays Jaz, Thony’s niece, has also been promoted from recurring characters to series regulars. Half-Filipino, half-Black, Jaz is Chris’ sister from another father. She’s smart, adaptable, emotionally grounded, and intuitive beyond her years. Quiet and measured, Jaz excels at everything she does. She plays on the basketball team, is a crackerjack at school, and represents the hope of the American Dream. Bryant is a model, actor, and accomplished pianist of Vietnamese and African American descent. She has modeled for the H&M x Nathalie Lete collaboration, and her acting roles include the short film Piano Lessons, which premiered at the 23rd Taipei International Film Festival in September 2021, where it was nominated for Best Short Film, Best Screenplay, and Best Original Music.

Additionally, Ivan Shaw has been cast as recurring character Marcos, Thony’s husband. Handsome, charming and intensely dedicated to those he loves, Marco once had a passionate marriage with his wife until Luca’s diagnosis changed everything. Now Marco refuses to sit idly by while Thony dives into every desperate measure to save their son. Despite his good intentions, however, Marco also has a gambling addiction that may prove detrimental to his entire family. Shaw is a Taiwanese-born American actor and martial artist who recurs on Hulu’s Casual, the Suits spin-off show Pearson, HBO’s Insecure, FX’s Better Things. He has also appeared on FOX’s New Girl, HBO’s Silicon Valley, and The Closer. His film credits include the Blumhouse/Amazon feature Nocturne and Apatow Productions feature Get Him to the Greek. In 2022, he will also be seen in the Bron Studios series That Dirty Black Bag opposite Travis Fimmel and Dominic Cooper.

It’s always refreshing as ever to see a show like The Cleaning Lady subverting tropes for people of color, and helping to diversify the landscape of primetime television dramas. And the buzz on the show is that it’s really addictingly fantastic!

Can’t wait to see it!
