Nicolas Cage stars as Nick Cage in the new action-comedy The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. He also serves as a producer. The movie hits theaters on April 22.
Creatively unfulfilled and facing financial ruin, the fictionalized version of Cage must accept a $1 million offer to attend the birthday of a dangerous superfan. Things take a wildly unexpected turn when Cage is recruited by a CIA operative and forced to live up to his own legend, channeling his most iconic and beloved on-screen characters in order to save himself and his loved ones. With a career built for this very moment, the seminal award-winning actor must take on the role of a lifetime: Nick Cage.
Cage’s extraordinary versatility has led to noteworthy success across all genres for over four decades. Recent work includes Pig, Mandy, Color Out of Space, and The Croods 2: A New Age. The actor’s performance in Leaving Las Vegas earned him an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, and a Screen Actors Guild Award.
He directed the film Sonny, for which he was nominated for the Grand Special Prize at The Deauville Film Festival. Cage produced Shadow of the Vampire and The Life of David Gale as well. Additionally, you might recognize his voice from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, bringing Spider-Man Noir to life.
I had the honor of speaking with the actor about who he would want to play him in a film about his life, special fan moments, past roles, and memorable props.
