During Star Wars Celebration’s LucasFilm Studio panel, the cast and creatives behind the upcoming Disney+ series Andor released a teaser trailer. The series, which was revealed to consist of 12 episodes — and 12 other episodes for the second season, launches exclusively on Disney+ on August 31.
The series takes place five years prior to the events of Rogue One. It focuses on Cassian Andor’s (Diego Luna) journey from — what Luna calls “a selfish Cassian” to the Rebel hero we all fell in love with in Rogue One.
During the panel, executive producer Sanne Wohlenberg revealed that Emmy-winning composer Nicholas Britell will be scoring the music for the series. Creator/writer/executive producer Tony Gilroy also revealed Stellan Skarsgård playing a Rebel leader named Lupin Rale.
Luna also expressed excitement for his return. “When I was doing the film, I was thinking every day as it was the last,” he told the crowd. “I didn’t know this was happening. I didn’t think this was possible. And here I am still talking about Cassian Andor, which I love. I know what he represents. For me, the universe of Star Wars, it’s the story of the people. The story that has the most to do with us viewers — us fans. It’s about what we can do — the power we have — the awakening we deserve. This character I love and I’m so excited now to know I’ll be shooting a lot more of this show. “

According to Disney+, Andor “brings forward the tale of the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire and how people and planets became involved. It’s an era filled with danger, deception and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero.”
“You know the beauty of this show is that there is no way they’ll kill me,” Luna joked.
Luna is joined by cast members Genevieve O’Reilly — returning as Mon Mothma, Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, and Kyle Soller. The executive producers are Kathleen Kennedy, Sanne Wohlenberg, Diego Luna and Michelle Rejwan. Tony Gilroy is the creator and showrunner.
