Dylan O’Brien brings the character of Colin to life in Not Okay. The new dark comedy is now officially streaming on Hulu and is meant to serve as a mix of cautionary tale and social satire.
Danni Sanders (Zoey Deutch), an aimless aspiring writer with no friends, no romantic prospects and — worst of all — no followers, fakes an Instagram-friendly trip to Paris in the hopes of boosting her social media clout. When a terrifying incident strikes the City of Lights, Danni unwittingly falls into a lie bigger than she ever imagined. She “returns” a hero, scooping up the man of her dreams Colin (Dylan O’Brien), and even striking up an unlikely friendship with Rowan (Mia Isaac), a real trauma survivor dedicated to societal change. As an influencer and advocate, Danni finally has the life and audience she always wanted. But it’s only a matter of time before the facade cracks, and she learns the hard way that the Internet loves a takedown.

The actor most recently starred in the critically acclaimed crime drama The Outfit, which I also had the chance to chat with him about. In November 2021, he co-starred with Sadie Sink in Taylor Swift’s directorial debut, the short film version of her iconic song “All Too Well.” Upcoming, he can be seen in Caddo and Maximum Truth.
Additional film credits include the Maze Runner franchise (2014-2018), Love and Monsters, Flashback, Infinite, Bumblebee, American Assassin, Deepwater Horizon, The Internship, The First Time, and High Road.
From 2011 to 2017, O’Brien played the beloved role of Stiles on Teen Wolf. He has appeared in Curb Your Enthusiasm, Amazing Stories, Weird City, as well as New Girl.

We spoke about his amazing Not Okay transformation and his thoughts on some of the film’s different messages.
