At New York Comic Con, I had the joy of speaking with Meg Donnelly, Drake Rodger, Jensen Ackles (Star/Executive Producer), and Danneel Ackles (Executive Producer) about their new series, The Winchesters. The Supernatural prequel will premiere tonight at 8 PM ET/PT on The CW.
Before Sam and Dean, there were their parents, John and Mary. Told from the perspective of narrator Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) “The Winchesters” is the epic, untold love story of how John Winchester (Drake Rodger) met Mary Campbell (Meg Donnelly) and put it all on the line to not only save their love, but the entire world.
Donnelly stars as Mary Campbell. The actress can most recently be seen in the Disney Channel Original Movie Zombies 3, the third installment of the franchise. She is featured in the current season of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series as well. On television, she is known for her role as Taylor Otto in American Housewife, which ran for 5 seasons.
Rodger stars as John Winchester. He was also in The In Between, Not Alone, Terra Beach, and Murder RX. Upcoming projects include Quiet In My Town as well as Mantra.
Jensen is recognized for the role of Dean Winchester, which he reprises in The Winchesters. He played the character for fifteen seasons on Supernatural, which was the longest-running prime-time American sci-fi show in history. The actor can currently be seen in The Boys as well as Big Sky. Ackles began his acting career in 1997 on Days of Our Lives for which he received three Daytime Emmy nominations and won the Soap Opera Digest Award for Best Male Newcomer. His notable film work includes My Bloody Valentine 3D, Devour, and Ten Inch Hero.
Danneel is best known for her roles as Shannon McBain on One Life to Live and Rachel Gatina on One Tree Hill. Additionally, she can be seen in NCIS, CSI, and How I Met Your Mother. Her film credits include Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay, A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas, Fired Up!, The Roommate, The Plight of Clownana, and Ten Inch Hero.
