The most anticipated live-action film The Little Mermaid has released a new teaser revealing more of Halle Bailey as Ariel as she travels to potentially meet with Ursula (Melissa McCarthy).
Bailey’s stunning vocals are heard even more as we see her underwater with her friends and family and even a brief clip with Prince Eric (Jonah Hauer-King).
Directed by Rob Marshall, the upcoming live-action musical tells the same tale as the 1989 animated film — a mermaid named Ariel longs to be part of the land people and falls in love with a human prince after saving him as his ship crashes. Now, she will do whatever it takes to meet him again, even if it means giving up her soul to the evil witch, Ursula.
The all-star cast includes Javier Bardem as King Triton, Awkwafina as Scuttle the Seagull, Jacob Tremblay as the voice of Flounder, and Daveed Diggs as the voice of Sebastian.
The soundtrack for the film has both Lin-Manuel Miranda and The Little Mermaid’s original composer Alan Menken creating four new songs. The film is being produced by Miranda, Marshall, Russell Allen, John DeLuca, Marc Platt, and Michael Zimmer, with Allison Erlikhman working as an executive producer. Jane Goldman and David Magee penned the script.
The Little Mermaid premieres in theaters May 26.
