Jessica Alba and Lizzy Mathis star in and executive produce Honest Renovations. All six episodes of season 1 are now available on The Roku Channel. The series has also been renewed for a second season.
Parenting is tough, and it’s even more challenging when your home isn’t working for your family’s needs. That’s where best friends Jessica Alba and Lizzy Mathis come in. They’re surprising parents with renovations to take their homes from cluttered and chaotic to functional and fabulous—but this isn’t your average home reno show. This duo gets honest about the pain points of parenting and the pressure points of a family home, with heartwarming moments and plenty of laughter along the way.

“I think when we walk in first and we see everyone’s homes and our family’s homes, it’s such a vulnerable moment for them, you know? Jess and I were very conscious walking into it,” Mathis told me. “We were like, ‘Okay, this is so vulnerable for our families that we have to make sure that we know that we are holding their hand through the whole process, that there’s no judgment in anything that we see, that they can also relate to us.’ We’re moms of three, we’ve been there, done that. We’ve both had moments in our lives where things were crazy, so we really wanted to walk in and make a very comfortable environment.”
Alba continued, explaining, “And then for us, it’s like, ‘How are we really making a lasting impact on their quality of life?’ And to be able to do that with someone, there’s nothing better. It’s like, what a gift we get in being able to do that for others.”

We discussed their favorite part of the renovation process, why they chose to surprise families, using the show to share knowledge with their viewers, and more.
