Brooke Shields Discusses ‘Mother of The Bride’

Brooke Shields executive produces and stars as Lana in Mother of The Bride. The new movie is currently streaming on Netflix. I asked the actress about the beautiful sentiment of a daughter wanting to take care of her mother, her character’s selflessness, and bonding with the cast off-camera.

Lana’s daughter Emma returns from abroad and drops a bombshell: she’s getting married. In Thailand. In a month! Things only get worse when Lana learns that the man who captured Emma’s heart is the son of the man who broke hers years ago.

“A lot of the time, you focus on the love interest because you know that you’ve got to find the chemistry, wherever you can find that chemistry and that was easy, that was off the bat. Feeling this closeness to Miranda and her sweetness, her work ethic, and her talent — and not in that order, but all of those things, those were sort of like, ‘Okay, we know that’s gonna be fine.’ But being a part of the group and all opting for a different piece of that puzzle, and then spending all of our time together off-camera and drinking tequila, going on day trips when we had a day off, and doing all these things and every meal together,” she shared with me. “You just do not get that a lot and being in such a foreign location, we were just it for each other. So to me, that type of those little inside jokes, those little glimmers, we were all establishing them for real.”
